Bump It UP your Figure 8 – Once you have taught the Figure 8, you can start to introduce Rally signs that contain Fig 8.
When training:
- Use Games and rewards to keep values high and focus intense when training. Think more about training and REWARDING the SKILL rather than just doing a sign.
- Rally signs are DISTRACTIONS! (More to come on this in this series.) Only add a sign to the training area once your dog is confident with the skills AND in new locations.
- Set up cones or equipment we need for training before getting your dog out.
- Play with your dog to a training area to maintain focus and build desire.
- When training, sometimes have your dog line up in a sit BUT more often play and go into heeling without a sit.
- When training throw in surprising moving sits and downs, 360 turns, etc. and keep the training session fun!
