How to Prevent No Sits when showing Training:
- Once your dog understands the skills that make up heeling, it is time to start shifting responsibility to your dog. That is, all his responses to a cue become your dog’s responsibly to do the skill every time regardless the environment or the situation.
- While heeling, throw in UNEXPECTED stops. Just slam on your breaks. There are NO CUES given.
- Praise and reward effort when first teaching.
- Only once your dog understands the drill will you start asking for more precision.
- DO REWARD for effort!
